products are common throughout industry in battery backup systems and
uninterruptible power supplies as an economical means of automatic aqueous
acid spill mitigation providing superior absorption and neutralization of
aquatic acids such as lead-acid battery electrolyte.
When used
with a liquid-tight spill containment barrier Batt-Mat products provide
spill control that will meet the requirements of the Uniform Fire Code

as hydrochloric, nitric or sulfuric acids (including lead-acid
electrolyte) are absorbed and neutralized. Batt-Mats encapsulate most heavy
metal molecules including lead, making disposal as easy as complying with
local landfill regulations.
Independent laboratory
testing verifies that up to 130 mg/L of lead absorbed by a Batt-Mat will not
leach out once the absorption/encapsulation process is complete, meeting
federal requirements (<5 mg/L) for the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching
Procedure (TCLP) .
When used
within the confines of a liquid-tight spill containment barrier, Batt-Mats
provide lead-acid electrolyte spill control that complies all known
regulatory requirements.

color when spills such as Ni Cad electrolyte and potassium hydroxide are
absorbed and neutralized. A single Batt-Mat-C will absorb and neutralize
approximately 2 quarts of NiCad battery electrolyte, containing up to 40%
potassium hydroxide.
When used
within the confines of a liquid-tight spill containment dam, Batt-Mat-C
provides wet-cell NiCad battery electrolyte spill control that complies all
known regulatory requirements.
